What is "bio-diverse gardening?"
Bio-diverse gardening means cultivating many species of plants (flowers, vegetables, trees) that attract native pollinators such as bees, wasps, butterflies, and birds.
We are losing pollinator species and populations in catastrophic numbers, and without them, we'll have very little food. Anything that blooms needs a "bee!"
When we spray herbicides or pesticides in our yard, field or garden, they eliminate just 2% of our intended insect targets and 98% of beneficial insects.
It's important not just to practice pollinator preservation but to advocate for it. Bees, for example, have a flight range of 3 miles. If your neighbor applies herbicide or pesticide, the bees that frequent your yard or garden will likely be affected.
